Rick Crowell

Rick has been married to Cindy for 44 years, father of 5, grandfather of 11. Rick graduated from the University of Dubuque. He is retired from MidAmerican Energy. He’s been a member of St. Mary’s for 15 years. He has been involved in Religious Education for 7 years teaching both RCIC (Rite of Christian initiation for Child) and Confirmation. Rick was previously on the Parish Council for 6 years, serving as President for 5 of those years. He was a representative delegate to the 2020 Convocation. Rick loves St. Mary’s because he believes it is a place from where we can do much good.

Tony Fuhs

Tony is the father of two adult sons, Brendon, and Trevor. Tony graduated from Iowa State and is retired from Quad Cities Nuclear Power Station, where he worked for 33 years. He now owns and operates the Brewed Book Coffee Shop and Used Book Store. He has been a member of St. Mary’s for 55 years. Tony serves St. Mary’s in many capacities: he plays the organ, has been a Religious Education teacher for many years, mainly teaching Confirmation. He served on the Parish Council back in the 90s. Tony loves St. Mary’s because there are opportunities in this diverse, multi-cultural community to effect change in the world.

Carlos M. Valdez

Carlos has been a member of St Mary’s since 2015. He is single with a career in computer programming. He loves St. Mary’s Church because it has great people and is a great place to be. His mother Judith Leon-Velarde was a member, too and loved the church. She didn’t want to go to any other place. And she celebrated her 89th birthday in the Parish Center before she passed away. He is currently the treasurer of the St. Mary’s Church Knights of Columbus Council, a member of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus and Commander of the Honor Guards.  In the 4th Degree Assembly he is the Faithful Captain.  He also serves St. Mary’s as an extraordinary minister and lector.
